Motors of MS series are permanent magnet motors. The low voltage permanent magnet motor is a new type of synchronous motor for low speed applications, for use with variable speed drives. They are designed to be compact, reliable and efficient. The new permanent magnet motor series extends the effective nominal speed range of the rugged industrial work-horses, the AC motor, down to 50 – 850 r/min. Mechanically, the motor type can be similar to the traditional, induction, totally enclosed squirrel cage motor; even their outward appearance can be identical. However, in performance terms, it matches the accuracy of the traditional synchronous motor.
With their high torque, these new type of motors simplify drive systems by effectively eliminating the need for speed reduction devices. By eliminating the gearbox, the user saves space and installation costs, as he only needs to prepare the foundations for one piece of machinery. This also gives more freedom in the layout design and improves the overall efficiency of the driveline.
